8th Grade Bake Sale
Location: HSPS - Recess and Lunch

Description
The 8th grade will be hosting their bake sale at Holy Spirit School this Friday, September 10th at morning and lunch recesses. All items are 50cents each. Please help support the 8th grade class.

6th grade to Headlands Institute
Location: Marin Headlands
When September 14, 2010 through September 17, 2010
Price: $450.00 p/student
Description
Please have your six grader ready to be at school 8:30am. The bus will be leaving around 9:00am. Your 6th grader is setting off west to the Headlands. Please make certain they utilize their equipment list when packing for this adventure. Everyone should have sensible shoes with laces they intend to fasten. Everyone needs a bandana. It may be cold and foggy or warm and sunny – be prepared. This is not the kind of place where untied shoes will suffice. They will need a paper bag lunch for Tuesday. Do not send any prohibited electronics as I am always looking to pick some things up cheap for Christmas presents.
We should arive home on Friday sometime between 3:00 - 4:00pm. You can call the office after 1:00pm for exact time.
More information will be sent home with your student.

Sept 17 Early Dismissal

Description
School will be dismissed at 12:15pm. Extension will be open as normal.
Just a reminder that the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month will be a minimum day.

20th annual American Heart Association Heart Walk
Location: William Land Park
When September 18, 2010
Description
You can help save lives! The 20th annual American Heart Association Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 8:30am in our neighborhood - William Land Park.
Shannon Deary-Bell is the chair of the American Heart Association's 2010 Start! Sacramento Heart Walk event this year. She has been joined by Jon Gianulias, Nica Gianulias, Warren Smith, Lee Overstreet, and Scott Rose. They would really like to encourage students, staff, and parents of Holy Spirit School and Parish to become involved and build healthier lives in our community.

You can help by doing any of the following:
> Joining and supporting your student's team
> Donating
> Walking in this year's event (5K or 1 mile routes)
> Help with fundraising activities

Together we can demonstrate how determined Holy Spirit students are in making a difference in our own neighborhood.
Let's raise awareness, show our support, and be visible at the 2010 Start! Sacramento Heart Walk, --- Saturday, September 18, 2010, 8:30am --- William Land Park. Join us for the walk, some food, heart-health education, Kids Zone, and Land Park’s very own FINAL FINAL BAND!!!

Let's help make this a successful event and show our students how they can make an difference! Funds raised will go towards furthering research at Northern California Universities and educating our community about the risks of heart disease.

Diocesan Testing Week
Location: Holy Spirit School

Description
IOWA TESTING WEEK
The ITBS testing will held the week of September 27 - October 1, for grades 2-8. Parents can help by making sure students get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and have a substantial snack for recess time. Please do not schedule appointments in the morning for this week.

Price: $565.00 p/student
Description
Please have your child dropped off and ready to leave at 8:30am. The bus is expected to leave at 9:00am. Please make certain they utilize their equipment list when packing for this adventure. Everyone should have sensible shoes with laces they intend to fasten. Everyone needs a bandana. It won't be foggy but it may rain. Bring rain gear, no super cheap ponchos as they last about 12 minutes but they do provide cheap entertainment. Bring two pairs of shoes for long distance walking as one pair may get wet. This is not the kind of place where untied shoes will suffice. Do not send any prohibited electronics as I am always looking to pick some things up cheap for Christmas presents.
We are expecting to arive back at school on Friday, October 1st around 4:30pm.
More information will be sent home with your student, once school has started.

CSAC Meeting
Location: FBR- 7:00pm

Description
The Catholic School Advisory Commission meeting will be held on the 3rd Monday of each month in the Father Brady Room.
The CSAC meetings are open to the parents to attend. If you would like to have something addressed during the monthly meeting it needs to be on the agenda. To have something placed on the agenda, please contact Fran Wise at fwise@hs-ps.com.

Description

Holy Spirit Sock Hop (September 10, 2010;$50 per family): An event for the whole family. Steve Buzzard will bring down the house!!! Root beer floats, vintage cars, burgers or dogs all things you don’t want to miss. Hosted by a wonderful group of HS families.

4th Annual Father O'Connor Holy Spirit School Golf Tournament

Dear Holy Spirit Family, Friends and Supporters,

We are pleased to invite you all to the 4th Annual Father O'Connor Holy Spirit School Golf Tournament hosted by Fr. Looney and the Holy Spirit Athletic Committee on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Bing Maloney Golf Course with dinner and reception following at the Holy Spirit School Gym. Over the past three years we have raised thousands of dollars for the Holy Spirit School Athletic Fund and Golf Team, and the proceeds have gone to help defer costs for new uniforms, Parochial Athletic League fees, golf bags and other equipment and expenses involved in the Holy Spirit School athletic program.

Attached, please find a flyer with information on the golf tournament and dinner. For just $500 a foursome, you get a fun-filled day of golf with friends and a reception/buffet dinner with raffle at the school gym. Other sponsorships are available upon request.
