GIRLS UNIFORM POLICY

UNIFORMS
Children may wear the following approved dress code. Items not listed are not approved dress code and if worn, will reflect in the child’s conduct grade.

Bottoms
• Hamilton Plaid Jumper: grades K-5
• Hamilton Plaid pleated skirt: grades 5-8
• Hamilton Plaid skort: grades K-8
• Uniform navy blue twill shorts or pants
• Pants must be worn at the waist level
• Plain navy, black or brown belts must be worn with pants and shorts.
• Skirts and shorts may not be more than 2 inches above/below the knee.

Tops (plain or HSS logo only)
• Short Sleeved white collar blouse
• Short sleeved white polo shirt
• Long sleeved white polo or turtleneck shirt
• Tops must be tucked in at all times.
• White solid short-sleeved undershirts may be worn.

Outerwear (plain or HSS logo only)
• Red or navy Holy Spirit School sweatshirts (ordered through school office)
• Red or navy uniform-issue cardigan
• Red or navy uniform-issue long sleeved V-neck pullover sweater
• Red or navy uniform-issue v-neck vest with school logo.

Girls Shoes
• Red, white, navy or black dress shoes may be worn.  Dress shoes must have a strap to keep shoes secure on the feet. High heels, pumps, wedge soles, sandals, flip-flops, loafers or any type of slip on shoe are not permitted.
• Red, white, navy or black athletic shoes may be worn.  Shoes must have laces or velcro fasteners.  High tops, slip-ons (Vans) or boot-like sneakers are not permitted.

Girls Socks
• Solid knee high socks in red, white, navy blue or black
• Tights in red, white, or navy blue or black. Leggings may be worn in winter but socks must overlap with leggings
• White, navy or black athletic socks must be crew length
• Ankle socks and “peds” are not permitted with athletic shoes, however ankle dress socks may be worn with dress shoes.

Make-up
• Make-up, including lipstick, is not allowed.
• Students may wear clear nail polish only.
• Students may not wear acrylic fingernails.

Jewelry
• Wristwatches may be worn.
• Girls may wear stud earrings, one earring per ear.
• Religious jewelry may be worn
• Boys and girls may not wear ankle bracelets, rope/leather necklaces or any other non-religious or trendy accessories. Wrist bands promoting popular causes may be worn with permission from the principal.

Hats
• No hats/hoods are to be worn in the classroom.

Hair

Hair is to be kept clean and neatly groomed. No hair dye, highlighting, frosting, or entirely shaved heads are allowed. No fad haircuts/styles (Mohawk, surfer, or “teen idol” etc.) or distracting hairdos are permitted.

Girls must keep hair off of their faces.  Simple style barrettes and headbands (no sequins, jewels, large flowers or bows) may be worn to assist in keeping hair in place. Hair accessories made with uniform plaid material may be worn.

The school reserves the right to have students comb or brush their hair to dress code standards should they arrive at school not in compliance.

P.E. Uniforms

• Solid red shorts with HSS logo only
• White HSS logo t-shirt
• Navy or red sweatshirt with HSS logo (may be hooded or crew neck, pull-over or zipper)
• Navy or red sweat pants with elastic casing at the ankles.
• Athletic shoes (red, navy, white or black) crew length socks (no peds or ankle length) in white, navy or black

P.E. Uniforms may be purchased in the front office.
